Recipe: Homemade Apple Cider

Time: 3 hrs 15 mins 
Servings: 1.8 litres 

Ingredients: 

  • 10 apples, chopped
  • 1 orange, halved
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 1 tsp whole allspice
  • 1 whole nutmeg
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar

Method: 

1. Place the apples, orange, spices, and brown sugar in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 2 hours.

2. Remove the orange halves and mash the apples. Continue simmering, uncovered, for 1 hour.

3. Strain the mixture and discard the solids. Serve warm.
