Recipe: Pizza on French Bread

Makes: 12 Pizzas

Ingredients:

  • 6 French bread
  • 1 jar of pizza sauce
  • 900g mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 225g sausage
  • Toppings of your choice (such as pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, goat cheese etc.)

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.

2. Slice the French bread in half and place on a large baking sheet.

3. Spread pizza sauce on each half of French bread, cut side up, and top with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.

4. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8-10 minutes. Once ready, transfer to a plate.

5. Add the sausage to the skillet and cook for 6-8 minutes. Break the sausage up using a wooden spoon.

6. Top the French bread with the onions, sausage, and your choice of toppings.

7. Once the pizzas are assembled, place the baking sheet on the lowest oven rack and bake for 8-10 minutes. Then, increase the temperature to 220 degrees and transfer the baking sheet to the highest rack, baking for another 2-3 minutes.

8. Serve immediately.
