Grilled Italian Sirloin Steak with a Balsamic Glaze

Recipe: Grilled Italian Sirloin Steak with a Balsamic Glaze

Ingredients:

  • 2 Italian sirloin steaks
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

A wide variety of quality ingredients for our recipes are available from Arkadia supermarkets in Malta and Gozo, including Arkadia FoodExpress Swatar and Arkadia Food Market Valletta.

Method:

1. In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped rosemary, olive oil, salt, and pepper and mix well.

2. Rub the marinade all over the steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for maximum flavour.

3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

4. Remove the steaks from the marinade and shake off any excess. Place them on the preheated grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time according to your preferred level of doneness.

5. Meanwhile, make the balsamic glaze. In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.

6. Once the steaks are cooked to your liking, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

7. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the grilled sirloin steaks and garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of colour and added freshness.

8. Serve hot, accompanied by your favourite sides like roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp green salad.

Cutting Up a Sirloin Steak with a Steak Knife

Choosing the Right Steak Knife

Selecting the perfect steak knife is essential for an enjoyable dining experience.

  • Look for knives with sturdy, serrated blades crafted from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring durability and sharpness.
  • Opt for knives with a comfortable handle that offers a secure grip, enhancing control and precision while cutting through steak.
  • Consider the knife's weight and balance, ensuring it feels well-balanced and easy to manoeuvre.
  • Choose a knife with a blade length suitable for the thickness of the steak, ensuring efficient slicing without tearing or shredding the meat.
