Onions, a kitchen staple worldwide, add depth and flavour to various dishes. With a pungent aroma when chopped, they come in different varieties such as red, yellow, and white. The yellow kind, like the ones in the picture are the standard kind used for almost any recipe and are excellent for caramelising. Caramelizing onions brings out their natural sweetness, while raw ones add a zing to salads and sandwiches. Sautéing the vegetable provides a flavourful base for soups, stews, and sauces. Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, they offer health benefits too.

Their versatility allows them to be used in a myriad of cuisines, from Indian curries to Mexican salsas and French soups. They are an essential ingredient in many different traditional dishes and an integral part of modern culinary creations. Beyond their culinary uses, onions have cultural significance in folklore and medicine, making them an essential and beloved vegetable in the culinary world and beyond.
