Mother's Day
Mother’s Day is an internationally celebrated holiday, honouring motherhood and the maternal bond. It is celebrated in over fifty countries all over the world, but not necessarily on the same day. In Malta, it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May and this year, it will be celebrated on 8th May 2022. Other countries celebrating Mother's Day on the same day include Australia, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Belgium, Denmark, and Finland.
There are numerous ways on how you can spend the day for some quality time with the maternal figure in your life. Here are some of our favourites:
- Cook their favourite meal and eat together. This is a time for communication often taken for granted in today’s busy lives.
- Make a scrapbook of your memories together and reminisce the good times. Get out the memory box, the photos, the concert tickets, everything!
- Stay in and binge-watch your favourite series or movie with an assortment of snacks.
- Go out, have brunch, and spend the day together doing what you love to do.
- Throw a picnic in the countryside or at the beach and take in the calmness of the outdoors.
- Take it easy, order take away and play some board games with all the family. You can let the mother win just this time.
- Organize a barbeque cook out. You can even invite friends and family to join in.
- Spend the day volunteering for a cause you are both passionate about. It can be a beach clean-up, the animal shelter, take your pick, lots of organizations could use the help!
- Spend the weekend camping and put down the phones for a while.
- Go on a hike and explore new places if you are adventurous enough to do so.
- Spend the day pampering each other. We’re talking manicures, pedicures, face masks and all the rituals!
