Recipe: Microwave Oatmeal


  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Toppings: Sliced strawberries, a dollop of yogurt, or a sprinkle of granola (optional)

1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the quick-cooking oats, milk, honey (or maple syrup), sliced banana, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

2. Stir the ingredients well to ensure even mixing.

3. Place the bowl in the microwave and cook on high for 2-3 minutes, or until the oatmeal reaches your desired consistency. Pause and stir halfway through.

4. Carefully remove the bowl (it will be hot) and let it cool for a minute.

5. Add your child's favourite toppings, such as sliced strawberries, a dollop of yogurt, or a sprinkle of granola.
