International Women’s Day

8th March 2022

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s achievements in various fields throughout history. With the first ever celebration having taken place in 1911, rallies and protests also take place to raise awareness on the issues of gender equality. The campaign’s theme is characterised by the colours purple to symbolise justice and dignity, green to symbolise hope and white to symbolise purity.

Each year, there is a different theme surrounding the Women’s Day campaign and this year, it is to #breakthebias. The purpose behind it is to break biases based on gender discrimination, stigmas and stereotypes and embrace diversity and inclusivity instead. We should all take on the responsibility and do our part at the workplace, within the local community, at schools, colleges, and universities.

So, here’s to strong women. May we know them, may we be them and may we raise them.
