Beef rib-eye is a highly prized and flavourful cut of meat known for its marbling and tenderness. Cut from the rib section of the cow, the rib-eye is recognized for its rich, juicy taste and smooth texture. The marbling, or intramuscular fat, within the meat contributes to its succulence and enhances its flavour during cooking.
Rib-eye steaks are often thick, allowing for various cooking methods such as grilling, pan-searing, or broiling. The high fat content not only ensures a delicious taste but also provides a degree of forgiveness in cooking, helping to maintain moisture even if slightly overcooked.
This cut is popular among steak enthusiasts due to its premium quality.
Recipe: Grilled Beef Rib-eye Steaks
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 4 beef rib-eye steaks (about 300g each)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Olive oil

Method:
1. Take the rib-eye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
2. Preheat your grill to high heat.
3. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and then rub them with a bit of olive oil. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
4. Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook for about 4-6 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time based on your desired level of doneness.
5. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, the temperature should read around 57°C.
6. Once done, remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat.
7. Serve the grilled rib-eye steaks with your favourite sides, such as roasted vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
